Abstract

Lower concha bullosa defined as the pneumatisation of the lower concha at various degrees is a rare anatomical variation of the lateral nasal wall within the nasal passage. Despite generally being asymptomatic, concha bullosa can be symptomatic depending on the size of pneumatisation and its relation with the nasal septum. Nasal obstruction, sinusitis, postnasal drip, malfunction in sense of smell can be listed among its symptoms. Anterior rhinoscopic examination, endoscopic examination and paranasal sinusitis tomography are used in the diagnosis of the disease. There is no concensus related to the surgical treatment of lower concha pneumatisation. Surgical treatment focusses on the techniques which affect the concha and paranasal sinusitis functions at the minimum level. In this paper, a case of unilateral lower concha bullosa accompanied by nasal obstruction is presented
