Abstract

Leiomyosarcomas are located in deep soft tissues and generally originate from vessel smooth muscle. The genetics variations in solid tumors include all the chromosome or specific parts of the chromosome. FISH (Fluorescence in situ hybridization) is used for making quantitative analysis of chromosomes and genes. Chromosome 1 short arm deletion finding rate in leiomyosarcomas is 75%. In this article we investigated chromosomal aberrations of leiomyosarcoma using FISH technique and reviewed through the literature information. In our case we found normal results in leiomyosarcoma specimens with 1, 7, 8, 17 and 22 numbered cc-satellite DNA probes using FISH technique. But we found monosomy in 9 and 18 chromosomes. Investigation of different chromosomal aberrations and gene expressions should make way for clinicians in diagnosis, treatment, determining prognosis and tumor behavior.

Leiomiyosarkomada kromozom 1'in kısa kolunda %75 oranında delesyon bulunmaktadır.
