Abstract

Introduction: Uroflow-EMG is a noninvasive test for the evaluation of lower urinary tract. In our study, we determined uroflow-EMG pattern of children with lower urinary tract dysfunction. Materials and Methods: Between January 2004 and July 2006,189 children who had the diagnosis of lower urinary tract dysfunction admitted to pediatric urology clinic were studied. The patients were evaluated with history, physical examination, voiding dysfunction symptom score (VDSS), urine analysis, urine culture, lumbosacral graphy, urinary system USG and post-voiding residual urine volume. In the second step of the evaluation uroflow-EMG was performed. Results: Of 189 patients 128 were female and 61 were male. The mean age was 8.3 (6-14) years. In the evaluation of the uroflow-EMG pattern, staccato voiding pattern was detected in 138 (%73) of 189 patients. Urge voiding pattern was detected in 23 (%12.1) patients. In 6 patients intermittent voiding pattern and in 7 patients normal voiding pattern with positive EMG activity was detected. In the other 14 patients normal voiding pattern with normal EMG activity was seen. Conclusion: In the evaluation of the response to the treatment, the diagnosis, and the follow-up of the lower urinary tract dysfunction; uroflow-EMG is a noninvasive, objective method in addition to the patient complaints, VDSS and the other noninvasive techniques.

Özet

Üroflov-EMG alt üriner sistemin değerlendirilmesinde kullanılan noninvaziv bir testtir. Çalışmamızda alt üriner sistem işlev bozukluğu olan çocukların üroflov-EMG paternlerini belirledik. Ocak 2004 - Temmuz 2006 tarihleri arasında çocuk üroloji polikliniğine başvuran alt üriner sistem işlev bozukluğu tanısı alan 189 çocuk değerlendirmeye alındı. Hastalar şikayetleri, öykü, fiziksel inceleme, İşeme bozuklukları semptom skoru (İBSS), TİT, idrar kültürü, lumbosakral grafı, üriner sistem US ve artık idrar tayini ile değerlendirildi. Bundan sonraki aşamada hastalara üroflov-EMG tetkiki yapıldı. 128'i kız, 61'i erkek olan hastaların yaş ortalaması 8,3 (6-14) idi. Olguların üroflov-EMG paternleri değerlendirildiğinde 189 hastanın 138 (%73)'inde stakato işeme paterni saptandı. 23 (%12,1) hastada urge işemeş paterni saptandı. 6 (%3,1) hastada kesik kesik işeme paterni saptandı. 7 çocukta normal işeme paterni ile birlikte; pozitif EMG aktivitesi belirlendi. Bunun dışında kalan 14 hastada normal İşeme paterni ve normal EMG aktivitesi saptandı. Alt üriner sistem işlev bozukluğu tanısında, takibinde ve tedaviye yanıtın değerlendirilmesinde hastanın şikayetleri, İBSS, diğer noninvaziv yöntemlerle birlikte Üroflov-EMG noninvaziv ve objektif bir yöntemdir.
