Abstract

In this study, the relationship between economic growth and the two basic means of fiscal policy, tax revenues and debt (internal and external debt) is investigated in the period of 1990-2008 by using the classical least squares method. The motivation of this study is that despite being an important issue of whether the country will be financed by internal or external resources, any common finding in the literature was not observed. As a result of this study, it is found that foreign debt affects growth positively which supports the Growth-Cum-Debt hypothesis. However, domestic debt affects growth negatively while taxes collected does not create any impact on the economical growth.
