Abstract

In the last two centuries terrorist organizations have generally been used for fifth column elements by external powers in order to gain or maintain interests or to reach a strategic goal on a strategic target area. As a consequence of this we can say that almost all of these terrorist organizations were formed and aimed by one or more external powers. As a terrorist organization Dashnaksutiun or Armenian Revolutionary Federation was an externally supported, organized and an active terrorist organization which can be given as a good example for fifth column operations. From 1890 to 1922 as the super power of this period, British Empire used Dashnaksutiun as an effective fifth column element in order to gain or maintain her interests and to reach her strategic goals in the area of Ottoman State, Russia and Iran. In this short work, foundation of Dashnaksutiun and its infrastructure, economical resources, terrorist actions will be outlined. Furthermore, will be sampled with which Dashnaksutiun terrorist actions helped to which of its sponsor state’s interests.
