Abstract

This study is aiming to investigate the socio-demographic, socio-cultural and economic factors that affect the position of women in the labour market based on gender approach. The findings show that the socio-demographic factors such as age, education, marital status and presence of children; cultural factors originating from patriarchy and gender-based division of labour and seconomic factors such as globalisation, structural adjustment programs are the main factors in determining women's labour market participation and working conditions. Women's labour market participation, compared to men, remains more limited by the effects of these factors. All policies and solutions aiming to increase women's employment should take in consideration of all these factors.
