Abstract
Objective: This study was carried out to determine the effect of genital hygiene education on genital hygiene behaviors given to female students. Materials and Methods: This is a quasi-experimental, single-group pre-test and post-test model study. Study carried out in 2015-2016 academic year, spring semester in the city center of an Anatolian high school from 9, 10, 11 grade students, who were at the school during the data collection process and total of 187 students completed the questionnaires before the training and 2 months after the training. The data were collected by using socio-demographic characteristics form and Genital Hygiene Behaviors Questionnaire. Findings: The mean age of the students was 15.58 ± 0.87. There was a statistically significant increase in the number of students stating that when they had a bad smelling current after education (p = 0.014), when there was itching in the perineal region (p = 0.007), when they experienced pain, pain and burning during urination (p = 0.002) (<0.005). Conclusion: It has been determined that genital hygiene education given to secondary school girls is effective in preserving and promoting genital hygiene behaviors and reproductive health.

Amaç: Bu araştırma ortaöğretim kız öğrencilerine verilen genital hijyen eğitiminin genital hijyen davranışları üzerine etkisini belirlemek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışma, tek gruplu ön-test ve son-test modelli yarı deneysel bir çalışmadır. Çalışmaya 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılı, bahar yarıyılında il merkezinde bulunan bir Anadolu lisesinin 9, 10, 11’inci sınıflarında okuyan, veri toplama sürecinde okulda bulunan ve eğitimden önce ve eğitimden 2 ay sonra anket formlarını yanıtlayan n=187 öğrenci oluşturdu. Veriler sosyo-demografik özellikler formu ve Genital hijyen davranışları soru formu kullanılarak toplandı. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 15,58±0,87’dır. Öğrencilerin eğitim öncesine göre eğitim sonrası kötü kokulu akıntı olduğunda (p=0,014), perine bölgesinde kaşıntı olduğunda (p=0,007), idrar yaparken ağrı, sızı ve yanma gibi şikâyetleri olduğunda (p=0,002) doktora gittiğini belirten öğrenci sayısında(p<0,005) istatistiksel anlamlı olarak artış olduğu saptandı. Sonuç: Ortaöğretim kız öğrencilerine verilen genital hijyen eğitiminin genital hijyen davranışlarını ve üreme sağlığını koruma ve geliştirmede etkili olduğu saptandı.
