Abstract

in this study, the antibiotic susceptibilities and whole celi protein patterns of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains which were isolated from nasal swabs of outpatients and healthy hospital staff, have been determined by disk diffusion test and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis method, respectively. A total of 43 MRSA isolates of which 13 out of 500 outpatients and 30 out of 500 hospital personnel, showed the same protein profiles, and the antibiotic susceptibility patterns were found similar. These findingssuggested that the strains isolated from the outpatients were originated from hospital environment.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, hastanemiz polikliniklerine başvuran hastalar ile hastane personelinin burun kültüründen izole edilen metisiline dirençli Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) suşlarının çeşitli antibiyotiklere duyarlılıkları disk difüzyon yöntemiyle, toplam hücre proteinleri ise sodyum dodesil sülfat poliakrilamid jel elektroforezi ile belirlenmiştir. Beşyüz poliklinik hastasının 13'ünden ve 500 hastane personelinin 30'undan izole edilen toplam 43 MRSA izolatının antibiyotik duyarlılıkları ve toplam hücre proteinleri incelendiğinde, antibiyotik duyarlılıkları arasında farklılık olmadığı ve suşların aynı protein profillerine sahip oldukları gözlenmiştir. Bu sonuç, polikliniklere başvuran hastalardan izole edilen MRSA suşlarının hastane kaynaklı olduğunu düşündürmektedir.
