Abstract

Aim: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is defined as all situations that cause ischemia in the myocardial area which is shed by the coronary artery blood flow. ACS is one of the major causes of hospital ization in developed countries. In this study we investigate the results of patients with acute coronary syndrome and were implanted paclitaxel eluting stent. Previous studies could not show the safety of Taxus stents in ACS clearly. Material and Method: 90 patients (117 stents) implanted paclitaxel eluting stent between March 2003 and May 2005 were included in our study. Patients with unstable angina pectoris (USAP), non ST elevated myocardial infarction (NSTEMI ) or ST elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) and patients who have >2 mm and >70% (focal or multiple) lesions were included. Control coronary angiography was performed after 12±3.2 months. Patients were followed up 15.7±6.4 months. Results: After stent implantation all patients live but 2 patients (%2.2) had acute myocardial infarction during follow-up. 3 patients (%3.3) had stable angina pectoris. Angiographic restenosis was detected in a total of 5 patients (%5.6) of these, 2 patients undergone to CABG and 2 patients had repeat angioplasty. As a result it was seen that polymer based paclitaxel eluting stent are effective in reducing stent restenosis. Conclusion: In our study we found that Taxus stents may be implanted with a high success rate to the patients with ACS and the long term angiographic and clinical result are successful.

Toplam 5 (%5.6) hastada anjiografik restenoz belirlendi. 3 hastaya restenoz nedeni ile anjioplasti uygulanırken 2 hastaya by-pass uygulandı. Sonuç: Polimer bazlı paklitaksel salınımlı stentlerin AKS'lu hasta grubunda restenozda etkin, güvenilir ve klinik sonuçlarının başarılı olduğunu sonucuna varıldı.
