Abstract

Aim: Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is a rare disease compared to other coronary artery abnormalities. We aimed to determine both P and QT dispersion in patients with CAE. Material and Method:We enrolled 40 patients with CAE (group I, 24 male; mean age, 56 ± 11 years) and 30 age- and sex-matched controls without CAE (group II, 11 male; mean age, 54 ± 8 years). Both groups underwent a standard 12-lead surface electrocardiogram recorded at 50 mm/sn during rest. Maximal (P max) and minimal P-wave durations (P min) are measured. PD was defined as the difference between P max and P min. Also, QT dispersion (QTd), corrected QT (QTc), and corrected QT dispersion (QTcd) were calculated. Results: The PD was higher in the CAE group compared to control group (46±16 ms vs. 31±11 ms, P<0.001). Also, QTc, QTd and QTcd were higher in the CAE group compared to control group (QTc, 418±31 ms vs. 398± 21 ms, P=0.003; QTd, 58±23 ms vs. 37±15 ms, P<0.001; QTcd, 61±24 ms vs. 40±15 ms, P<0.001). Conclusion: In our study show that isolated CAE was found to be related with prolonged PD and QTd.
