Abstract

Ventricular septal defect is one of the most important mechanical complications of myocardial infarction. Physical examination, echocardiography and ventriculography lead to the diagnosis. Multi-slice computed tomography was made to determine the exact place of the defect in addition to echocardiography in a 60-year-old woman who was referred to our clinic for postinfaction ventricular septal defect. Defect was closed with a dacron patch in an open heart procedure. Multi-slice computerized tomography may become an alternative to invasive cardiac catheterization and ventriculography for these hemodynamically unstable patients with previous coronary anjiography
