Abstract

Free-floating ball thrombus in the left atrium is a rare echocardiographic finding, with few cases described in the literature. Despite its rarity, it may lead to undesirable clinical circumstances that may cause death. We reported the case of 42-year-old-man representing weakness, fatigue and dyspnea on exertion starting four weeks ago. Echocardiography revealed mobile ball thrombus in the left atrium, severe mitral valve stenosis and severe aortic valve regurgitation. A review of the literature, clinical aspects, and treatment of ball thrombus is presented.
