Abstract

Secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) is the most common congenital heart defects in adulthood. Closure of secundum-type ASD with trascathetrt method is an increasingly performed alternative to cardiac surgery. We explain in this case report that a 52-year old woman of large-sized (34 mm) secundum- type ASD was closured successfully using the Occlutech device (36 mm) with transcatheter method. Transcatheter closure of secundum-type ASD is a feasible and safe method.
