Abstract

Objective: We investigated whether there is a correlation between coronary artery dominance and atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia recurrence in patients with radiofrequency ablation due to atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia. Material and Method: Patients who were referred to our clinic for supraventricular tachycardia between 2015-2018 were retrospec- tively screened. Patients undergoing coronary angiography with typical atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia-induced and suc- cessful radiofrequency ablation were included in the study. Coronary artery dominance was determined following coronary angiogra- phy of the patients included in the study. Patients were divided into right dominant, left dominant and co-dominant groups and com- pared in terms of recurrence. Results: A total of 125 retrospectively screened patients were included in the study. 47.2% of the patients were male (n = 59) and 52.8% were female (n=66). The mean age of the patients was 53.1 ± 9 years. A total of 8 (6.4%) patients had recurrence in follow-up. In 69 (55.2%) of the patients right coronary artery, 20 (16%) left coronary artery dominant and 36 (28.8%) co-dominant coronary circulation. The age, gender distribution and other baseline demographic characteristics of the patients were not significantly different (p> 0.05) in patients with recurrence (-) and recurrence (+). When compared with coronary artery dominance and recurrence rates, right-dominant 55.6% -50%, left-dominant 15.4% -25% and co-dominant 29.1% -25% were found in the recurrent (-) and recurrent (+) groups respec- tively and did not show any statistically significant difference. Conclusion: According to our study findings, we can say that the coronary artery dominance in atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachy- cardia ablation is not related to the recurrence of atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia.
