Abstract

Objective: Atrial fibrillation ablation with cryoballoon is a reliable method. As the development to atrial fibrillation is related to obesity, the aim of our study was to investigate the effect of body mass index on atrial fibrillation recurrence after cryoablation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation who are symptomatic despite being prescribed at least one antiarrhythmic drug. Material and Method: This study included 88 patients who underwent cryoballon ablation for symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation despite being prescribed at least one anti arrhythmic drug and who do not have structural cardiac disease or moderate-severe valve disease and who underwent ablation procedure for the first time. The predictors of recurrence were established using logistic regression analysis. Results: During a mean follow up period of 15.4±7 months, atrial fibrillation recurred in 22 patients. Multiple regression analysis showed that body mass index (OR: 1.127, 95% CI:1.008-1.260, p=0.036), atrial fibrillation duration (OR:1.029, 95% CI:1.011-1.047, p=0.001), Creactive protein level (OR: 1.078, 95% CI :1.022-10.105, p=0.009) and white blood cell levels (OR:1.828, 95% CI :1.055-3.167, p=0.031) were independent predictors of recurrence. Conclusion: Body mass index was found to be an independent predictor of atrial fibrillation recurrence after cryoablation.

Çok değişkenli lojistik regresyon analizi yapıldığında beden kütle indeksi (OR: 1,127, %95CI: 1,008- 1,260, p: 0,036), atriyal fibrilasyon süresi (OR: 1,029, 95%CI: 1,011-1,047, p: 0,001), C-reaktif protein (OR: 1,078, 95%CI: 1,022-10,105, p: 0,009) ve beyaz küre sayısı (OR: 1,828, %95 CI: 1,055-3,167, p=0,031) atriyal fibrilasyon nüksünün bağımsız öngördürücüleri olarak saptandı.
