Abstract

Objective: Atherosclerosis remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Non-invasive tests should be performed prior to invasive tests considering their safety issues. There is no consensus on using epicardial fat tissue thickness for diagnosis in clinical practice. The primary endpoint of our study was to evaluate the impact of epicardial adipose tissue on coronary artery disease. Secondary endpoint was to estimate its’ relation between HOMA index, sex, age, family history and hyperlipidemia. Material and Method: Echocardiographic and angiographic images of patients were scanned retrospectively. In the statistical analysis of data, t-test was used for those variables that do not match the normal distribution, nonparametric t-test, ANOVA was used for comparing three or more group features. p 0.05). Conclusion: The epicardial fat tissue systolic thickness found to be correlated with the severity of coronary artery lesion. There was no correlation, HOMA index and epicardial fat tissue thickness measurements.
