Abstract

PURPOSE: To compare the vasospastic response to cold water in glaucomatous patients with normal controls using color Doppler Imaging technique on temporal short posterior ciliary arteries. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Twenty-one primary open angle glaucoma patients, 19 normal-tension glaucoma patients and 20 normal cases as control group were included in this study. Blood flow velocities and rezistive indices were determined from temporal short posterior ciliary arteries at basal conditions and after immersion of hands in cold water (+4°C) using color Doppler ultrasonography. Student's t-test was used for statistical evaluation and significance was set of p<0.05. RESULTS: In all groups rezistive index values did not change significantly after immersiton of hands in cold water (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: Vasospastic response to cold provocation was not observed in orbital circulation of glaucomatous and normal cases.

Özet

AMAÇ: Glokomlu ve normal olgularda soğuk su provokasyonu ile gelişebilecek vazospastik eğilimi renkli Doppler görüntüleme tekniği ile temporal kısa posteriyor siliyer arterler düzeyinde değerlendirerek karşılaştırmak amaçlandı. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Çalışma kapsamına primer açık açılı glokomlu 21 olgu, normal tansiyonlu glokomlu 19 olgu ve kontrol grubu olarak 20 normal olgu alındı. Tüm olgularda bazal şartlarda ve eller +4°C soğuk suda iken renkli Doppler görüntüleme tekniği ile temporal kısa posteriyor siliyer arterlerdeki pulsatil akım hızları ve rezistif indeksler (Rİ) belirlendi. İstatistiksel analizde Student t-testi kullanılarak p 0.05). SONUÇ: Seçilen glokomlu ve normal olgularda soğuk su provokasyonu ile orbital dolaşımda vazospastik cevabın geliştiğine işaret eden bulgu elde edilemedi.
