Abstract

Aim: To evaluate choroidal thickness of patients who have chronic migraine using spectral optical coherence tomography (OCT). Material and Method: Twenty patients who have chronic migraine (group 1) and 20 individual who are totally healthy (control group) were included in the study. Choroidal thicknesses were measured from fovea and 5 extrafoveal points using spectral OCT in all participants. Groups were statistically evaluated among each other. Results: Average age in group 1 and in control group were determined as 34.4±8.3 (25-42) and 33.6±6.7 (25-40) respectively. In group 1 twelve women (60%), eight men (40%); and as a control group ten healthy men (50%) and ten healthy women (50%) were included in the study. Average choroidal thickness in group 1 and control group were 177.1±15.5 ?m and 216.1±13.4 ?m respectively. When the gathered measurements were statistically evaluated, the difference between group 1 and control group was statistically meaningful. (p=0.0004) Conclusion: Choroidal thickness was much more thinner in patients having chronic migraine than the healthy group.
