Abstract

Purpose: This study was done to describe preoperative features of patients with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PEG) and chronic open angle glaucoma in our clinic. Material and Methods: We retrospectively investigated the preoperative ocular findings of 25 PEG patients and 98 chronic open angle glaucoma (COAG) patients undergone filtration surgery. Results: PEG patients exhibited high mean preoperative IOP than the COAG patients. This was 31.2±6.7mmHg in PEG patients and 25.6±6.9 mmtfg in COAG patients (p=0.000l, t testi). PEG patients had worse visual acuity (%33.3 was smaller than 0.1) than COAGpatients (%18.7 was smaller than 0.1) (p=0.042 chi suquare test). On biometric measurements, there were no difference in axial lenght and lens thickness, but anterior chamber depth was clearly different in PEG patients. Also cup/disc ratio was smaller in PEG patients than COAG patients. Conclusion: It was accepted that significant difference was clear between pseudoexfoliative glaucoma and chronic open angle glaucoma patients.
