Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of topical prostaglandin analogues on selective laser trabeculoplasty efficacy and success in primary open-angle glaucoma patients. Material and Method: Right eyes of 28 patients with primary open angle glaucoma who received selective laser trabeculoplasty treatment were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups, prostaglandin-using group (PG group) and non-PG group (non-PG group). Intraocular pressure decreases and success rates were compared between the two groups. At least a 20% reduction in intraocular pressure in the postoperative sixth month was defined as success. Results: The mean age of 28 patients included in the study was 60,75±11,26 years. Of patients, 14 (48.2%) were female, and 15 (51.8%) were male. Fifteen eyes in the PG group and 13 eyes in the non-PG group were included in the study. In the first week after selective laser tra- beculoplasty, Intraocular pressure’s were statistically significantly lower in the PG group (p: 0,028). There was no statistically significant dif- ference between the two groups in terms of falls in intraocular pressure at the first hour, first month, third month and sixth month. At the 6 th month there was no statistically significant difference between the 2 groups in terms of selective laser trabeculoplasty success (p=0.765). Conclusion: In patients with primary open-angle glaucoma, topical prostaglandin therapy has no effect on selective laser trabeculoplasty efficacy and success.

Hastaların 15’i (%53,6) kadın 13’ü (%46,4) erkek idi.
