Abstract

Summary: Objective: To investigate the effect of the lowest estrogen containing combined oral contraceptive pill on androjen profile. Material and Methods: We compared between prior to and after oral contraceptive dosage levels of free testosterone, DHEA-S, 17-OH progesterone in 22 patients matching our study criteria who applied to our family planning policlinic between 1997-1999. Statistical significance limit was accepted as 0.05. Results: The levels prior to and after the therapy were determined as; (3.28±0.3 versus 2.65±0.3) for free testosterone, (318.8±23.0 versus 307.5 ± 14.0) for DHEA-S, and finally (1.64±0.8 versus 1.53±0.9) for 17-OH progesterone, respectively. The differences between the levels were significant for all of the three parameters. Conclusions: The antiandrogenic effectivenesses of combined oral contraceptives might be unrelated to the estrogen dosage.

Her üç parametre içinde aradaki fark anlamlı idi.Sonuç: Kombine oral kotraseptiflerin antiandrojenik etkinlikleri estrojen dozuna bağımlı olmayabilir.
