Abstract
OBJECTİVE: The aim of the study is to reveal age at menopause and to investigate the factors that may affect menopausal age in women who live in Gölbaşı Region of Ankara. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This cross-sectional survey was included 611 women aged 40-65. The women were interviewed with a standardized questionnaire. Relevant factors that may influence age at menopause were assessed by Cox's regression analysis. RESULTS: In the study population, the mean and median age at menopause was 47.3±4.2 and 48 respectively. There was negative correlation between the age at menarche and menopausal age (odds ratio=1.16 [1.06-1.26]), and other investigated factors had no statistically significant impact on the menopausal age. The results of this study are concordant with those of previous studies carried out in Turkey and other countries. AMAÇ: Çalışmanın amacı Ankara'nın Gölbaşı Bölgesinde yaşayan kadınlarda menapoz yaşını saptamak ve menapoz yaşına etki edebilecek faktörleri araştırmaktır. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Bu kesitsel araştırma 40-65 yaşındaki 611 kadını içerdi. Kadınlarla standart bir anket ile görüşme yapıldı. Menapoz yaşına etki edebilecek ilgili faktörler Cox's regresyon analizi ile değerlendirildi. SONUÇ: Çalışma populasyonunda ortalama ve ortanca menapoz yaşı sırasıyla 47.3± 4.2 ve 48 yaş idi. Menarş yaşı ve menopozal yaş arasında negatif bir ilişki vardı (odds oranı=1.16 [1.06-1.26]) ve diğer araştırılan faktörler menapoz yaşı üzerine istatistik olarak anlamlı bir etkiye sahip değildi. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları Türkiye'de ve diğer ülkelerde yapılan önceki çalışmaların sonuçlarıyla uyumludur. Menopoz yaşının yıllar ile değişimlerini monitorize eden daha fazla çalışmalar ve menapoz yaşını daha doğrulukla saptayacak geniş ölçekteki insidans çalışmalarının yapılması gereklidir.
