Abstract

Objective: Our aim was to evaluate the relation between anthropometric measurements with hypertension (HT), dyslipidaemia (DL), diabetes mellitus (DM), and coronary heart disease (CHD). Material and Method: Four hundred-nineteen patients aged 56.4±17.2 (13-90) were included. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-hip ratio (WHR) in all patients were assesed. The persence of HT, DL, DM and CHD were also investigated. Results: Of all patients, 231 (55.1%) were female and 188 (44.9%) were male. The prevalence of HT, DL, and DM in population with increased BMI was significantly higher than that in normal group (p<0.001, p<0.01 and p<0.01; respectively). Regarding to gender, within the group with increased BMI, the prevalence of HT and HL in women (p<0.001, p<0.05; respectively) and the prevalence of HT and DM in men (p<0.01) were higher than those in normal subjects. In population with increased WC; whilst HT, DL and DM in overall and in women were significantly high (p<0.001), only HT and DM in men were higher than normal subjects (p<0.05, p<0.01; respectively). With regard to WHR, the prevalence of HT and DM in only female patients with increased WHR were significantly elevated (p<0.01). We didn't find any relation between all anthropometric measurements and coronary heart disease (CHD). Conclusion: WC and BMI are more important anthropometric parameters as risk factors for HT, DL and DM. The correlation of WHR with the disease is low.

Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan 419 hastanın 231'i (%55.1) kadın, 188'i (%44.9) erkekti.
