Abstract

Defects in placentation during pregnancy may affect the growth of the fetus negatively resulting abortion and fetal death. Because of this reason, trends in placental investigations have been rising upon placenta development and placental vessel development. In this review, placentation and its angiogenesis, and some common factors playing role in this process like VEGF (Vascular endothelial growth factor), angiopoiteins, PlGF (Placental-like growth factor), PDGF (Platelet-derived growth factor) and LIF (Leukemia inhibiting factor) and their expressions in pathologic conditions will be explained.
