Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to analyze the components of Integrated Rural Tourism (IRT), which is an approach that handles rural tourism in a broad framework and takes into account environmental, economic and socio-cultural sensitivities in tourism practices, in the example of Milas district. In the study, "convergent parallel pattern" method was used as a research method. In this framework, surveys prepared within the framework of 7 components of Integrated Rural Tourism were applied to 130 visitors coming to Milas district, and in-depth interviews were conducted with 32 people in total, including operators, tour operators, public / non-governmental organizations employees and local people. The data obtained from the survey were analyzed using the 5-point Likert Scale in the SPSS 16.0 program, and the interview data were analyzed by the MAXQDA 12 program. According to the results of the analysis carried out, it was observed that the highest rate of visitors participating in the survey expressed negative opinions (X̅ = 2.97) on the “networks” component of Integrated Rural Tourism, which includes the actors to act in line with common goals. Another component which the visitors expressed a negative opinion was the "empowerment" component based on the greater influence of local communities in rural tourism activities (X̅ = 2.94). On the other components of IRT, sustainability (X̅ = 3.11), embeddedness (X̅ = 4.26) and endogeneity (X̅ = 4.33), most of the participants expressed positive opinions, and on scale, none of the rural settlements visited It has been stated that there is no overcapacity (X̅ = 1.81).
