Abstract

In recent years, how people learn concepts, how they solve a problem, how they can remember and forget knowledge have become the main subject of studies. For this purpose, many learning style models based on different approaches have been suggested. One of them is “learning modalities” that forms preferences which have a relatively more permanent nature about perceiving information. In this study, the relationship of pre-service physics teachers’ learning modalities with grade level, gender and grade point average (GPA) was examined. The study was conducted on 136 physics education students who are being trained at Necmettin Erbakan University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty Physics Education Department. Learning modality that a pre-service teacher prefers more than the other learning modalities was named as “dominant modality”, and the analyses were done by considering both pre-service teachers’ dominant modality and the number of modalities that they possess.
