Abstract

Objective: There is a need for an alternative food for babies who have cow’s milk allergy. Although there is usually cross reaction to goat’s milk, it is widely consumed. In this study, we tried to find the frequency of goat’s milk allergy among infants with cow’s milk allergy Methods: Thirty four children who have diagnosed as having cow’s milk allergy were investigated between 1.1.2010 and 12.31.2010 at Allergy Department. From those children, 24 of them enrolled into the study group who had positive prick, and pro- vocation test results, and diagnosed as IgE mediated cow’s milk allergy. Results: Mean age of the study group was 6.5±8.6 months. There was a predominance of boys (n=15, 62.5%). Of the 24 babies with cow’s milk allergy, 79% were also sensi- tive to goat’s milk. Conclusion: It is considered that goat’s milk could be used in a minority of patients who are not sensitive to goat’s milk.

Olgulara keçi sütü ile (prick to prick) epidermal deri testi yapıldı. Bulgular: Hastaların ortalama yaşları 6,5±8.6 ay olarak bulunmuştur. Büyük kısmı erkek cinsiyettedir (n=15, %2,5). Çalışmaya alınan 24 inek sütü alerjili hastanın %79’unda epidermal deri testi ile keçi sütü duyarlılığı olduğu saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Az sayıda da olsa çapraz duyarlılık göstermeyen hastalarda keçi sütünün kullanılabileceği düşünülmüştür.
