Abstract

Chickenpox, an infection of childhood with vesicular skin rash, is caused by Varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Although the infection is rare in adults, it can cause serious complications. In this report, a VZV pneumonia case in a previously healthy adult is 'presented and the related literature is reviewed. The patient was treated with oral acyclovir and both clinical and radiographie recovery has been observed.

Özet

Su çiçeği, Varicella-zoster virüsü (VZV)'nün etken olduğu döküntülü çocukluk çağı infeksiyonlanndandır. Erişkinlerde seyrek görülmekle beraber, ağır komplikasyonlarla seyredebilir. Bu makalede, su çiçeği seyri sırasında VZV pnömonisi gelişen önceden sağlıklı bir erişkin hasta bildirilmiş ve ilgili literatür bilgileri gözden geçirilmiştir. Hasta asiklovir ile tedavi edilmiş, klinik ve radyolojik olarak tam iyileşme sağlanmıştır.
