Abstract

Unemployment has become one of the current global problems. Developed and developing countries have been facing an unemployment problem, although ac- hievement the stable or high level of economic growth. The main aim in this pa- per is to investigate the empirical relationship between employment and growth for Turkey covering the period of 1970-2012 by using the employment elasti- city. At this point, the results of regression analysis show that every one percent growth in GDP is related to 0.28 percent growth in employment. The result of the study indicates that the relationship between growth and employment is weak. Furthermore, to reveal employment intensity of the main sectors, the sectorel employment elasticities also calculated for Turkey.

Aynı zamanda çalışmada temel sektörlerdeki büyümenin is- tihdam yoğunluğunu ortaya koymak amacıyla sektörel istihdam esneklikleri he- saplanmıştır.
