Abstract

Extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) of the head and neck is an uncommon malignancy. Waldeyer’s ring is the primary site of non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the head and neck. NHL may present as nodal or extranodal disease which is potentially curable. The symptoms and examination findings of NHL simulates squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck. The patient presented in this case has a servical node and a mass in the hypopharynx resembling itself as hypopharynx carcinoma. Careful examination besides histopathologic and immunhistochemical studies are essential for diagnosis, grading and treatment of NHL. Chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy are treatment modalites according to histologic type, architecture and stage of the tumor.
