Abstract

Education has a big importance in the development of countries’. For this resa- son, education spendings take an important place in countries’ public expendi- tures. However, some factors such as height of population growth rate and ex- cess of young population, lead to inadequacy of resources allocated to educa- tion. When viewed from this aspect, it is understood that Turkey allocates subs- tantially resources to education services. At this point, the study aims putting for- ward the situation of education and questioning the adequancy of education ex- penditure by comparing with other OECD member countries.

Özet

Eğitim ülkelerin kalkınmalarında son derece önem taşımaktadır. Bu nedenle ül- kelerin kamu harcamaları içerisinde eğitim harcamaları önemli yer tutmaktadır. Ancak nüfus artış hızının yüksek olması, genç nüfusun fazlalığı gibi etkenler eği- time ayrılan kaynakların yetersiz kalmasına yol açmaktadır. Bu açıdan bakıldı- ğında Türkiye’nin eğitim hizmetlerine önemli miktarda kaynak ayırdığı anlaşıl- maktadır. Bu noktada çalışma Türkiye’de eğitimin durumunu ortaya koyarak, eği- tim harcamalarının yeterliliğini diğer OECD üyesi ülkelerle karşılaştırmak suretiy- le sorgulamayı amaçlamaktadır.
