Mastitis and breast abscess are very rare infectious conditions seen during the neonatal period. Although the etiology has not been clarified yet, breast massages applied to the newborns that have physiologic breast hypertrophy disrupt dermal integrity, facilitate dissemination of microorganisms and lead to manifestations of neonatal mastitis. Mastit ve meme apsesi, yenidoğan döneminde oldukça ender görülen enfeksiyonlardır. Fizyolojik meme hipertrofisi olan yenidoğan bebeklere uygulanan meme masajı cilt bütünlüğünü bozarak mikroorganizmaların yayılımını kolaylaştırmakta ve neonatal mastit gelişimine neden olmaktadır. Bu olgu sunumunda meme masajı sonrası neonatal mastit gelişen bir yenidoğan olgusu sunularak, erken dönemde tanı ve tedavisi gerçekleşmediği takdirde ciddi komplikasyonlara yol açabilen neonatal mastite dikkat çekilmek istenmiştir.
