Abstract
Asset management is an area of research which is important for any business that desires to obtain value from assets, and it has become an international standard with the ISO 55000 Asset Management Standa rd Series published in 2014. With the developing technology, assets have gained high material values and re su l t e d in significant investments for businesses. Therefore, using assets effectively during their life cycles has become a necessity for sustainable businesses. In this study, the importance of asset management standards and the role o f information technologies in managing related processes have been discussed in detail by conducting a comprehensive literature review. Considering that the ISO 55000 standard series is still very recent and there i s a limited number of companies with certification in Turk ey, the study contributes to asset management literature by simultaneously handling both the systems and information technology perspectives.

Varlık yönetimi, varlıklardan değer elde etmek isteyen her işletme için önemli olan ve 2014 yılında yayınlanan ISO 55000 Varlık Yönetim Standart Serileri ile uluslararası standart haline gelen bir alandır. Gelişen teknoloji ile varlıklar yüksek maddi değerlere ulaşmakta ve işletmeler için ciddi yatırımlar oluşturmaktadır. Bu nedenle varlıkları tüm yaşam döngüleri boyunca etkin kullanmak, sürdürülebilir işletmeler için zorunluluk haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, varlık yönetimi konusunda kapsamlı bir literatü r çalışması yapılarak varlık yönetim standartlarının önemi ve ilgili süreçlerin yönetiminde bilgi teknolojilerinin rolü detaylı olarak tartışılmıştır. Çalışma, varlık yönetiminin ISO 55000 standart serilerinin halen çok yeni olduğu ve Türkiye'de bu standarda sahip sınırlı sayıda firma olduğu göz önüne alındığında, çalışma gerek sistem g erek se bilgi teknolojisi perspektifini aynı anda ele alması bakımından literatüre katkıda bulunmaktadır.
