Abstract

In this study, using 14 bands spectral and stereo ASTER satellite image having the resolution of 15m Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is generated and the accuracy of the orthophotos produced from these DEMs are investigated. The accuracy of the DEMs produced by combinations of different numbers of Ground Control Points (GCPs) chosen in mountainous, rough and smooth terrains in the studied region and the orthophotos produced from these DEMs are investigated. The accuracy of the adjusted model are found to be below than 15m (1 pixel) accuracy, hence considered to be satisfactory for the production of DEM and orthophoto. The best results are obtained in smooth areas ones. However, the accuracy of about 1 pixel (15m) or lower is achieved in every type of terrain.
