Conclusion: Despite the vaccination schedule is completed, Anti-Hbs levels of approximately 1/5 of 180 children were under protective levels that were checked before an operation, therefore the anti-Hbs could be lower than protective levels and a booster dose should be planned for the children that were at risk for hepatitis B.

Abstract

Objective: At this study we aimed to evaluate pre-op anti-Hbs at the children who were completed the vaccine shedule. Methods: We analyzed, between 1-12 years old 180 children who applied to Ankara Educational and Research Hospital Pediatry Polyclinic before the operation. The vaccination schedules of all these children were completed who are included in our study. We checked up their anti-Hbs levels and asked them some sociodemographic questions. Then we interrogated their relationships with age and anti-Hbs levels. Results: Of our 180 cases, 102 (56.7%) were male, 78 (43,3%) female. Mean age of the cases was 4,83 ± 2,34 years (range: 1-12). The values of Anti-HBs were 10mIU/ml in 78,4% (n=141) of the cases. A significant negative correlation between age and anti-Hbs titration was found in this study, after 1-2 years old the other ages anti-Hbs levels were decreased. But there is no relatıonship between age, gender, smoking at home and additional diseases with anti-Hbs <10 mIU/ml level.
