Abstract

Mucormycosis is an aggressive, angioinvasive and acute onset fungal disorder that can be fatal. It may lead infection in individuals with intact immune system although it often causes opportunistic fatal infection in situations leading immune deficiency such as diabetes mellitus, leukemia, antibiotic therapy, anti-neoplastic agent use, immunosuppressive therapy, corticosteroid use, protein-calorie malnutrition, organ transplantation, AIDS or substance abuse. In this study, we presented diagnosis, treatment and follow-up modalities in 6 patients who presented to ENT and Infectious Disease outpatient clinics and diagnosed as mucormycosis between December, 2013 and March, 2016 in the shed of currently available literature.
