Abstract

The main objective of the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS), the first global project of International Association of Geodesy (IAG), is the combination of all geodetic observing techniques. In the evaluation of GGOS for Turkey, one should consider the existing and possible observation techniques and local/regional contributions to global measurements and models. Within this context global models need to be checked and tested by local/regional observations and analysis. In this study; I tried to compile the studies related to geodetic works maintained in Turkey on developing global models with regional contributions, observation and modelling techniques related to Earth’s gravity field, which is the natural element of GGOS. In Turkey, within the Earth’s gravity field works related to terrestrial gravity, satellite gravity, satellite altimetry, height systems, geoid determination and geodynamics have been widely applied.
