As a result of questionnair, the most of referee had prefered as a leisure time aktivity. Araştırma, Türkiye'de 1996 sezonunda aktif görev yapan 80 güreş hakemi üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiş ve Güreş hakemlerinin hakemliği hangi temel amaçlar doğrultusunda tercih ettikleri ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Buna göre,güreş hakemleri hakemliği maddi beklentiler dışında ve çok yüksek bir oranda boş zamanlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla yapmaktadırlar. Bu amatör anlayış içerisinde güreşi çok sevme,daha önce güreş yapmış olma ve tanıdığı bu gruptan ayrılmayıp ilişkiyi hakemlikle sürdürme ön plana çıkmaktadır.
