Abstract

With the reality of globalization and the development of digital communication technologies, the world has begun to concretely experience Marshall McLuhan’s concept of the “global village.” In this digitalized environment, social media influencers have evolved beyond being merely individual content creators and have emerged as a new generation of communication actors capable of generating cultural, economic, and social impacts. The study aims to examine the content production practices and user engagement of prominent social media influencers in Türkiye, based on follower counts, across different platforms using up-to-date and comparative data. Within the scope of the study, the posts shared by five social media influencers producing content on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook between January and December 2025 were analyzed using the content analysis method. By comparatively evaluating the influencers’ content production practices, purposes of content sharing, and patterns of user engagement, the study presents current empirical findings regarding the roles of social media influencers within the field of digital interaction.
