Abstract

This article discusses the concept of digital nomadism and the movement from urban to rural in the context of how individuals shape their life choices through new media. The study aims to analyze the role of new media platforms in the process of increasing the attractiveness of rural areas while discussing the effects of digitalization on individual and social life. While literature review and analysis reveal the economic, social and cultural effects of digital nomadism, they also shed light on individuals' motivations to move away from the city. The impact of new media content on individuals' decisions to return to rural areas has been discussed in detail and the impact of periodic factors such as the pandemic on this process has been also discussed. In this regard, it is evident that the tendency toward rural regions is supported by new media with aspects of visibility and incentive, and that the processes of adaption with digital infrastructure are strongly linked to the sustainability of this trend.
