Abstract
This study aims to analyze selected historical Medinan practices of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from the perspective of strategic leadership, identify the key dimensions of strategic leadership reflected in these practices, and develop a conceptual strategic leadership model based on the findings. Adopting a qualitative research approach, the study employs document analysis for data collection and thematic analysis for data analysis. Drawing on early sīra and Islamic historical sources as well as contemporary scholarship, the study examines the Constitution of Medina, Muʾākhāt (the bond of brotherhood), the Battles of Badr, Uhud, and the Trench, the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, letters of invitation to Islam, the Conquest of Mecca, the Battle of Muʾtah and the Expedition of Tabuk, the delegations, and the Farewell Sermon. These historical events are analyzed in terms of their strategic context, leadership decisions and practices, and their institutional and societal outcomes. The findings indicate that the practices examined can be conceptualized under five interrelated dimensions of strategic leadership: institutional order-building, social integration, crisis and security leadership, diplomatic leadership, and sustainable governance. The conceptual model developed on the basis of these dimensions demonstrates the complementary nature of strategic leadership practices across different contexts and their relationship with societal legitimacy and enduring political order. Without claiming to explain the overall leadership characteristics of Prophet Muhammad, this study systematically conceptualizes the strategic leadership pattern manifested in selected historical practices and provides an interdisciplinary analytical framework connecting historical evidence with contemporary strategic leadership literature.
Özet
Bu çalışma, Hz. Muhammed’in (s.a.s.)
