Abstract

The study was conducted to determine and compare mothers' self-efficacy with low and high-risk pregnancies. The study, which has a descriptive and cross-sectional research design, was conducted with 203 mothers, 113 of whom had low-risk and 90 of whom had high-risk pregnancies between November 30, 2022, and April 30, 2023. Data were collected using a questionnaire form to determine the mothers' socio-demographic, descriptive, and obstetric characteristics and the “Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form.” The mean BES-SF score of mothers with low-risk pregnancies was 50.93±9.20, and the mean BES-SF score of mothers with high-risk pregnancies was 46.06±10.61. In the comparison of the total mean scores of the BES-SF between the sociodemographic-obstetric characteristics and the groups of mothers with low and high-risk pregnancies, it was seen that the variables of age, pregnancy planning status, number of pregnancies, number of living children, last delivery method, gender of the baby, having problems with the first breastfeeding after birth, the time of the first breastfeeding, breastfeeding experience, receiving breastfeeding education and the baby being with the mother affected the BES-SF (p<0.005). Age in mothers with low-risk pregnancies and breastfeeding experience in mothers with high-risk pregnancies are significant predictors of breastfeeding self-efficacy.

Özet

Araştırma düşük ve yüksek riskli gebelik geçirmiş annelerin öz-yeterliliklerinin belirlenmesi ve karşılaştırılması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel araştırma tasarımına sahip olan çalışma, 30 Kasım 2022 - 30 Nisan 2023 tarih aralığında, 113 düşük riskli, 90 yüksek riskli gebelik geçiren 203 anne ile yürütülmüştür. Veriler; annelerin sosyo-demografik, tanıtıcı ve obstetrik özelliklerini belirlemeye yönelik anket formu ve “Emzirme Öz-yeterlilik Ölçeği (EÖÖ)-Kısa şekli” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Düşük riskli gebelik yaşayan annelerin EÖÖ puan ortalaması 50,93±9,20, yüksek riskli gebelik yaşayan annelerin EÖÖ puan ortalaması 46,06±10,61 olarak bulunmuştur. EÖÖ toplam puan ortalamalarının sosyodemografik-obstetrik özellikler ile düşük ve yüksek riskli gebelik geçiren anne grupları arasındaki karşılaştırmasında yaş, gebeliğin planlanma durumu, gebelik sayısı, yaşayan çocuk sayısı, son doğum şekli, bebeğin cinsiyeti, doğumdan sonraki ilk emzirmede sorun yaşama, ilk emzirmenin zamanı, emzirme deneyimi, emzirme eğitimi alma ve bebeğin anne yanında olma durumu değişkenlerinin EÖÖ üzerinde etkili olduğu görülmüştür (p<0,005). Düşük riskli gebelik yaşayan annelerde yaş; yüksek riskli gebelik yaşayan annelerde ise emzirme deneyimi emzirme öz-yeterlilik üzerinde anlamlı yordayıcılardır.
