Abstract

The aim of this study is comparatively examine the carbon footprints of “knitted” and “woven” bathrobes, sheets, piques on a production and machine basis. Bathrobes, sheets, piques made of “woven fabric” and “knitted fabric” are manufactured by passing through stages of weaving, dyeing plant, cutting, sewing and packaging. However, CO2 emission is released during manufacture. In this study, a textile company located in Denizli city of Türkiye is chosen as a case study. As a result, when woven bathrobes, knitted bathrobes, woven sheet, knitted sheet, woven pique, knitted pique produce 1.46 kg, 1.41 kg, 1.56 kg, 1.28 kg, 1.53 kg, 1.43 kg of carbon emissions are released for the production of 1 kg of fabric, respectively. As can be seen, the highest exports are in bed sheets and the highest carbon footprint is released in bed sheet production.
