Since ancient times, Utopia has been the space that is desired and hoped for. It seeks the most perfect, describes the ideal, and most importantly, embodies the expectation and hope for the existence of something better in the future. However, this expectation varies according to the problems and needs of its context, and it manifests itself within the area where change is needed. For this reason, context constitutes the source of the city in which the ideal is sought. In the study where the ideal city is referenced, it is aimed to observe the integration between the ideological form of life and the formation of livable cities. The idea of context addressed through the method of the study, based on Aldo Rossi’s thinking, lends the research a supportive quality. According to this idea, the city, defined by its skeletal system, records all lived experiences as an “apparatus.” The concept of context used in the study to read the recorded ideal city forms an integrative phenomenon together with the subject (the city user) and the objects (everything related to the city) attached to the entire skeleton of the city, along with their changes and transformations. Therefore, the context of the relationship between the city and the city user presented in this article provides a concrete inference for the study. The findings that form the scope of this article, which deals with the context of the Modern Period, indicate that dystopian works describing an ideology are in fact supportive of the ideal cities that are seen as the hope for the future.

Eski zamanlardan beri arzu edilen, umut edilen mekândır Ütopya. En kusursuzu arayan, mükemmeli tarifleyen ve en önemlisi de geleceğe dair daha iyinin varlığına beklentiyi ve umudu barındırandır. Beklenti ise bağlamın problemlerine, ihtiyaçlarına göre değişkenlik göstermekte ve değişime ihtiyaç duyulan alanın içerisinde kendini var etmektedir. Bu sebepledir ki bağlam, idealin arandığı kentin kaynağını oluşturur. İdeal kentin refere edildiği çalışmada, ideolojik yaşam formu ile yaşanabilir kentlerin oluşumundaki entegrasyonun gözlemlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın yönteminde ele alınan Aldo Rossi’nin bağlam fikri, çalışmayı destekler bir niteliğe kavuşturmaktadır. Bu fikre göre kent, iskelet sistemi ile tanımlı bir “aygıt” olarak tüm yaşananları kayıt altına almaktadır. Çalışmada kayıt altına alınan ideal kenti okumak için kullanılan bağlam kavramı, tüm kentin iskeletine takılı olan özne (kent kullanıcısı) ve nesnelerin (kente dair her şey), değişim ve dönüşümleri ile beraber birleştirici bir olguyu oluşturur. Dolayısı ile bu makalede yer alan kent ve kent kullanıcısı ilişkisinin bağlamı makale için somut bir çıkarımı ortaya koymaktadır.
