Kitap, Avusturyalı tarihçi Alfred Von Kremer’in Almancadan çevrilen "İbn Ḫaldūn ve İslam Toplumlarının Kültür Tarihi" başlıklı kitabı ile İsveçli tarihçi Nathaniel Schmidt’in İngilizceden çevrilen "Tarihçi, Sosyolog ve Filozof" başlıklı kitaplarının bir araya getirilmesiyle hazırlanmış olup iki bölümden oluşmaktadır.
