Abstract
Aim to study: This study aimed to investigate the antibodies of Neospora caninum (N. Caninum) and Anaplasma ovis ( A. ovis) species in sheep in the Niğde province by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Materials and methods: Blood samples were collected from 175 sheep aged one year and older slaughtered at the Niğde abattoir and were analyzed by ELISA to detect antibodies against N. caninum and the competitive ELISA (cELISA) for the detection of A. ovis antibodies. Results: Out of the 175 sheep, 20 (11.4%) were positive for N. caninum and 25 (14.2%) for A. ovis by ELISA. The difference in seropositivity to N. caninum between months was statistically significant (p<0.05), while the difference in seropositivity to A. ovis among months was not statistically significant (p>0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of these infections in sheep from Niğde province was determined, and the seroprevalence of N. caninum and A. ovis was detected at 11.4% and 14.2%, respectively.
