Abstract

The rapid development of industry and technology has influenced family structures, transforming the patriarchal family model into a more individual-oriented family structure. This transformation has become a subject of research in many different fields, including social, economic, cultural, and health-related studies. Bibliometric analysis methods, which enable the quantitative analysis of scientific publications, are used to reveal the existing intellectual accumulation of a particular topic, author, or institution by analyzing published works, as well as to identify and evaluate relationships among sources. Accordingly, the main objective of this study is to evaluate scientific performance in Türkiye by analyzing the bibliographic data of articles related to family studies published in the field of social sciences and to identify period-specific research topics through keyword analysis. The results of the analysis indicate that the performance of Turkish scholars and academic institutions is characterized by a high level of inter-author and inter-institutional collaboration. The period-based analysis reveals that studies conducted before 2000 primarily focused on issues related to independence and selfhood; research between 2000 and 2014 emphasized working life; studies from 2015 to 2019 concentrated on gender and working life; and research conducted between 2020 and 2024 addressed a wide range of topics, including working life, social, economic, and medical issues within the social sciences. The findings of the period-based analysis provide valuable data for researchers focusing on family studies as well as for policy-making institutions.
