Abstract

In this study, the effect of web-based Human Papillomavirus (HPV) education given to female employees of a university on their knowledge and health beliefs about HPV infection and vaccination was examined. The study was designed using an experimental method. The population of the study consisted of women working at a foundation university in Istanbul. The sample consisted of 45 women who participated in the pre-test and post-test. The data were obtained using a demographic information form, "Human Papilloma Virus-Knowledge Scale" and "Health Belief Model Scale on Human Papilloma Virus Infection and Vaccination". 93.3% of the women had not received HPV vaccination and 48.8% stated that they had not received HPV vaccination because they did not consider themselves at risk. It was determined that there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the sub-dimensions of Perception of Benefit (p=0.579), Perception of Sensitivity (p=0.332) and Perception of Seriousness (p=0.473) of the Health Belief Model Scale regarding HPV Infection and Vaccination. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the Perception of Obstacle (p=0.048) sub-dimension and the number of correct answers in the knowledge score (p=0.000); the average number of correct answers. in the perception of obstacle sub-dimension and the post-test were higher. As a result of the research, it is recommended that a face-to-face training model should be preferred instead of web-based training, and training sessions should be repeated at regular intervals.
