Eser, Orta Asya’dan başlayarak Anadolu’ya uzanan geniş bir kültürel zemin üzerinde teşekkül eden hikmet anlayışını tarihsel, felsefî ve sosyo-kültürel boyutlarıyla ele almakta; söz konusu geleneğin ana damarlarını sistematik biçimde ortaya koymaktadır.
