Abstract

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in the world. Since its first diagnosis, strategies have been tried to be developed to reduce mortality and morbidity. Learning about the biological behavior of breast cancer, developments in science and technology, and the inadequacy of radical surgery alone in improving prognosis have led to the need to develop different treatment models in breast cancer treatment together with surgery. With the understanding that breast cancer is a systemic disease, it has been seen that the best results can be achieved with a multidisciplinary approach. With the efforts to reduce the size of surgery day by day, the number of early-stage breast cancer patients increasing with screening programs, and minimally invasive techniques being discussed today, the standard treatment in current guidelines for patients in all treatable stages is still surgery.
